Case study · our own project
akcijedanas.com: catalogues and price comparison in four countries.
akcijedanas.com brings together retail catalogues, current deals, prices, fuel prices and store opening hours for Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro. We built it from scratch on a new domain in October 2026. Within a month it went from 2 Google clicks a week to 260.
The website
akcijedanas.com today.

Goal
Answer everyday shopping questions in one place.
Shoppers search for this week’s catalogue of a chain, the price of a product, today’s deals, the cheapest fuel nearby and which stores are open on Sunday. The answers are spread across dozens of chain websites, PDF catalogues and official price lists.
The goal was a fast site that collects this data automatically, stays current several times a day and gives Google a clear set of pages worth indexing on a brand-new domain.
What we built
Data first, then pages.
01
Catalogues
33 automatic sources for Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro, refreshed five times a day, including PDF catalogues converted on the server. Every catalogue page is shown as an image with a mobile version and its validity dates.
02
Prices and price comparison
Croatian prices come from the mandatory daily price lists of 13 chains, for every store: about 14 million rows. Serbian prices come from 11 chains on the open data portal. Product pages show prices by chain, the change since yesterday and the lowest price in 30 days, and a price index compares chains.
03
Fuel and opening hours
Fuel prices for 910 stations in Croatia with a map, and the official weekly maximum prices in Serbia and Montenegro. Opening hours for about 3,900 stores, including which stores are open this Sunday and on public holidays.
04
Technology
Plain PHP 8.3 without a framework and PostgreSQL 16, with no external PHP libraries. Scheduled jobs collect and check the data, and an hourly monitor reports failed imports.
SEO on a new domain
Fewer, better pages for Google.
After the first week the sitemap had about 58,000 addresses, 99% of them product pages, while Google crawled the new domain only lightly. Most products were sold by a single chain, so their pages had nothing to compare.
- Only products sold by at least two chains are indexed and listed in the sitemap, up to 1,000 per country. The rest stay available to visitors with
noindex. - Each chain has a permanent page for “{chain} catalogue”, so links and rankings stay when the weekly catalogue changes.
- Seasonal pages answer demand as it appears: opening hours for All Saints’ Day, chrysanthemums, wood pellets and lanterns.
- Hreflang for four countries, structured data for products, opening hours and questions, and 13 links from 12 Croatian and Bosnian websites in October 2026.
Results
The first month in numbers.
- Google Search: 2 clicks and 39 impressions in the first week (7 to 13 October 2026). 454 clicks and 43,561 impressions in the 28 days to 2 November, at an average position of 9.0.
- Growth: 260 clicks in the last week, 57% more than the week before.
- Indexing: 686 of the sitemap addresses checked so far are in Google’s index.
- Speed: PageSpeed 100 on mobile, and Core Web Vitals from real visitors are good (LCP 0.8 s, CLS 0).
- Best page: store opening hours on All Saints’ Day, with 61 clicks at an average position of 6.1.
